Mimi Trutec has been doing the Melonite QPQ for years. I had my first one done several years ago by Joel Kendrick. Joel was an engineer with Stabilus. They used the process on the shafts of their air struts. Joel was Long Range shooter of the year about 3-4 yrs ago. He was doing his own barrels at the time in the evenings. He wanted his hummers to last longer. Joel did a Kreiger for me about 5 yrs ago. It was a great shooting barrel and had 5000 rounds through it when it disappeared. I had one done that was a mediocre barrel. It was still mediocre after Melonite QPQ and is a great fireforming barrel. I have a Rock Creek 30BR barrel and a Bartlien barrel that have been treated. It will probably be next year before I do much shooting. This is high school football season. No match is important enough to make me miss either of my Grandson's games.

5000 rounds on a benchgun?

Yes sir. I usually change barrels at around a thousand rounds.
