Barrel installation question

What is involved with installing a barrel that has been chambered and installed on a another action by the same manufacturer? This would be a Hall M to another Hall M with .308 bolt faces. Both actions have been used as switch barrel rifles. I do have an action wrench and barrel vise. I'm sure Go/No gauges will be needed, but just eyeballing it, it looks to have excessive headspace. I'm trying to avoid simply rechambering the barrels; .308 and 6.5X47L. Would this been something that would be routine for a competent gunsmith? I am not one of those, just trying to better understand the situation. Gunsmith recommendations?

Hopefully, I accurately described the situation, if not please let me know.

Thoughts, information, insights would be very much appreciated.

It would be impossible to know for sure without installing it and measuring it with gages. Some of todays receivers like bat and kelblys panda can have perfectly fine headspace from one to the other. The only thing to do is buy the gages and install it and see if it passes. I don't know how close the halls were made.

It would be simple for me, just measure both actions to see how compatible they would be, All it would take is a depth mic, then the headspace gauges would come into play.

No need to install barrels, a depth mic like gundoktr said is all you need to know if the headspace in both actions is different.

If you don't have the original action that the barrels were set up for, then you need a to gauge and depth mic to check. Any competent gunsmith should be able to verify this for you without having to install the barrels.

If the headspace is too long, all that needs to be done is to move the shoulder and the back of the barrel, if too short, you will need a reamer.
