Polished Barrel Removal/Installation

Any kind of note pad paper, or even a sticky note will work fine. For applying rosin, make up a thin slurry of rosin and denatured alcohol. Swab it on with a q tip or patch and when the alcohol flashes off a thin coat of rosin remains. Takes about 20 seconds on a warm day. MUCH better than sprinkling the stuff dry and going all over the place. Cleans up completely with a patch soaked in alcohol. I keep a 2 oz bottle of slurry near the vise. A little rosin goes a long way...

I buy 180 grit sandpaper by the roll, and wrap the barrel with a couple turns, with the ROUGH SIDE OUT, and take it off! Never marred a polished or blued barrel. I also paint the vise with the rosin solution described above
