Barrel contour help

I need to order a barrel for a stock that is from a KS XB stock that would have the 40X action in it. Trying to find out what barrel contour it is. I am sure it is a straight taper but is the chamber end at 1.250 or 1.200 and what it would finish at the muzzle. Thinking a lite varmint contour would work but not sure.

1.175" shank, straight taper to .875" at 27 1/4"

Remington Varmint contour should fit perfectly in the bbl channel.

Dan, pretty sure Remington uses 1.250 on their 40X's. The 700's are about 1.25 on their sporters etc but taper immediately to the smaller diameters. The 1.25" leaves a bit more shoulder against the lug.
However Boots' cuts his M40 contour @ 1.20" IIRC. Too lazy to go dig one out and measue right now.lol A Krieger LV #7 tapers pretty fast and would be leave an uneven gap along the BC with more gap at forend than just ahead of receiver.

My measurements were take straight off a 40-X Custom KS 22-250 s/s barrel.

Most Remington barrels never break 1.200" let alone 1.250"....

What would be best to order for it, a LV or HV starting at 1.200 Not sure how much difference in the taper between the 2. Looking to try out and purchace a Rock Creek barrel.

Why not contact the barrel manufacture ,tell them what you're doing and let them advise you ? Just a thought .

Thanks for all your help guys. I ordered a #3 LV from Rock Creek and have decided to build a 22BR to go with its big brother 6BR. I think it will work perfect.
