One great carbon remover that hasn't been mentioned is Mercury Power Tune, a marine engine cleaner sold by Mercury/Quicksilver. It will also remove light copper fouling. It comes in a spray can and is easy to use.

Supposedly there are new products in the works that will be far more effective. I am hopefull that I shall be allowed to do a test evaluation on those very soon. For those who want to really clean their firearms a very good investment is a Hawkeye Bore Scope. Until recently most shooters could only guess if their firearms were clean. With a Bore Scope you can actually see the rifling and you will discover that many cleaning solvents touted by "Experts" and "Match Winners" DO NOT WORK.

The use of a Bore Snake drags the carbon fouling back through the barrel over and over. When we first started shooting weren't we all told not to run the dirty carbon filled patch back trough the bore? Remember carbon is an element and it is very hard. The military is using them in the Sand Box primarly because they do provide "Down and Dirty" fouling removal. Which is not really cleaning the bore. After all their targets are large and normally fine accuracy is not called for, disregarding the snipers. Once a shooter can actually see the bore the truth becomes apparent. I know they are not cheap but they really are worth it. I recently bought a high end replacement barrel and after looking at it I found that part of the rifling was missing. The manufacturer made it good but without a bore scope I'd have never known.

Like others I have had good results removing copper with Bore Tech Eliminator but am now currently trialling KG12 that has been recommended by a few people as one of the best. Hard to say whether it does remove more copper but hoping to check when I can get hold of a borescope.
