Barrel cleaning fluid recommendations?

Is the carbon remover better than the BT bore cleaner, or the same stuff???

I have been told that Eliminator is a mix of the carbon remover and the copper remover. I did not try to verify that info.
The carbon seems to cover up the copper, so I remove the carbon first, then the copper.

Hoppes 9 mixed with Kroil and Sweets........and SOAK TIME with all the above.

Now THAT is intriguing. I have all 3 on hand.

My lessons learned:

1. There's no "magic" chemical
2. A clean patch does not necessarily indicate a clean barrel.
3. You have to brush. They wear out quick. Buy them by the dozens.
4. Time is your friend. Let it soak.
5. Best to clean while the barrel is warm from shooting.
6. You'll have to use an abrasive at some point. Be careful with it.
7. Get a Teslong, but don't over-react. It doesn't have to be sparkly to shoot well.

Good info. I don't know what a teslong is. Is this like being "sent" to a B-25 to get a bucket of propwash?

Just a simple example of KG-1 (carbon remover) used on my carbon ring. I wrap a patch around a brush and let it sit for about 15 minutes, spin the brush a few times and then clean with fresh patches. I've done the same with Boretech but I find the KG is just a little faster in my experience (albeit with a tiny bit of smell vs Boretech which has zero smell).
KG products wash off my hands easier vs. Boretech which has a soapy feel for way too long when washing my hands.

There is a new bore cleaner called "ThorroClean" sold by Bullet Central. It is a mixture of Iosso bore-paste and some solution that makes it the consistency of paint. I clean my bore with BoreTech Eliminator to get the "loose" carbon out. Then I take my usual bronze brush, dip it in the ThorroClean and scrub the bore down thoroughly. I then use the ThorroClean on patches and do some patch work. Completely flush out the ThorroClean (which is not an easy task) and your bore will be as close to REALLY, REALLY clean as you can get. The bronze brush gets down in the "corners" of my 4 groove conventional style rifling and scrubs out the hard carbon. The patches make quick work of the lands. The barrel is as clean as it will ever come. After a 2 day F-Open event, the ThorroClean is quick as can be expected after a grueling 2 days..

Yup I have Thorroclean, too. Seems to work well. I like this routine!

Now THAT is intriguing. I have all 3 on hand.

To explain it a bit better, Hoppes and Kroil mixed for carbon.........Sweets for copper. I will leave Hoppe soak 24 hrs at a time or more. I leave Sweets in over night or all day. At a match I clean with Montana Extreme. About every 100 rounds a few strokes of Iosso and Kroil in the throat and first couple inches of the barrel. From the time I come home from a match on Sunday the barrel is soaking until Fri night ready for a Sat or Sun match.

teslong if different than a tesla—- tesla is a car- teslong is a company that makes cheap borescopes. Ive got the teslong but not the teslalol

Boretech has this guide (attached) buried on their site. It implies that both single-purpose solutions are more effective than Eliminator. it is marketing though, so you'd have to make your own conclusion.

Teslong is an inexpensive borescope (about $50-100, depending on model.) Popular because the standard used to be a Hawkeye optical borescope (close to a grand, I think), or the Lyman borescope at about $200. Search Amazon for the easy way to buy.

I'm low on all 3, and need to stock up.
What is working for you? New and "better"?
Strong odor is not a problem if the solution works...

I was using Montana extreme. That worked OK. I just got some thorroclean/thorroflush. It worked very well. I did need to run about 30 strokes vs the recommended 10-15 strokes. (All the way down the barrel and back is one stroke). I used an Iosso nylon brush.

I use this combo from time to time. Sometimes, I don't have time to fully clean after a range session. So I use Wipeout and the accelerator for a 24 hour soak.
