barrel change

I RECENTLY RECIEVED A 6BR BARREL FOR MY RIFLE TOLD THE SMITH TO PUT OLD BARREL BACK ON THE ACTION NO SENSE WEARING OUT NEW BARREL IN THE WYO WINTER. SO HEAR IS MY QUESTION THIS IS A BEAD BLASTED BARREL HOW DO I PROTECT THE BARREL AFTER I PUT IT IN THE VISE. ALSO HOW TIGHT SHOULD TIGHTEN THE BARREL VISE I DO HAVEA TORQUE WRENCH 0 TO 150 LBS. ANY HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED THANKS DAVE

A paper towel cardboard center wrapped around the barrel will prevent any damage to the finish. I don't have a exact figure to torque to, but there is no need to go gorilla on it. Pull the nuts down good and tight and switch the barrel, they do not need to be super tight..

I use 1.5" pieces of leather I cut from an old cowboy boot. Never had a problem slipping or leaving any marks.
