Barrel/build advice for mid-range F-TR gun in .223

jsthntn247-Better stop wasting those things for fouling, unicorns are crying.

OP, I read in your post that using a harris is "not ideal"... Don't let that stop you.
I transitioned from a harris last year to a ski type bipod. Imo, the ski type is quicker to get back on target, maybe easier to build npa, but you can shoot fine with a harris.
Would I go back to a harris?... Probably not, only because the ski type is easier.

jsthntn247 - Nice shooting! That's more than good enough to put you in the money. After looking at your images, I recall that in the past I came across the 18" Shoot-N-C targets with the very large aiming dot in the center. Don't remember where I found them, but I opted for the ones with a red center dot about the size of a quarter. I recall having more difficulty keeping a consistent aim point with the larger dot. If it is the same for you, the smaller dot might be helpful for finer holds. The good news is that your already very small groups might get even smaller ;).

I must be odd man out, I am using N150, CCI Magnum primers, .010 jump off lands. Getting 2790fps for my sweet spot. I have yet to try Varget.

Update: just ran a seating depth test today for a new lot (unfortunately the last few boxes) of 90 VLDs:

5-shot groups @ 100 yd, from .009" to .021" off the lands, MV ~ 2845-ish, shot using bipod/rear bag (i.e. standard competition setup):

Ran the groups in OnTarget:

I'm pretty pleased with these results. These long pointy boolits will really shoot when you get the load right. With very little recoil to speak of, I think it's understandable why a number of folks here at AS have been using these in F-TR and shooting very, very well. Sure hope the folks at Berger get another run in soon before I run completely out of these gems.

Greg,
Just received my email the other day production is scheduled for this month be ready because they are coming. I surely cant wait because im sure happy to know my back-order will be filled soon. Good news is i still have 900 to play with:).

Next week im going to test the 90SMK, this week weekend was just to dam hot to shoot.

Thanks, good to know. I've seen the same info posted in the recent Berger jacket updates, let's hope they keep to that schedule. These were a lot I bought some time ago, but only purchased 5 boxes. That's enough for a few matches, but not many. I have some backordered as well, hopefully the production run will be completed in June/July.

I'm the odd man out also. Started with RL-15 years ago and never switched. 24.8g in a LC case. 20K in the lands. OAL 2.650 with BR primers. Impressive groups all the time.
