Barrel blank long term storage. Assuming you oil them inside and out and store in climate controlled area. Anything else ?

I guess I should run some solvent through the bore (to make sure it's clean) before oiling it as well.

I think barrels should periodically cleaned and use a preservitive, not just oil. The military uses cosmoline
when they store for long periods of time.

Holy crap. That cart is holding 600-800 pounds on wheels.
I got a bunch of carts to go under the woodworking machines 20 years ago. The wheels were plastic and fell apart after 10 years. I made a bunch of steel wheels to replace the plastic ones. They will probably wear out the floor before they will wear out. It is a chore to move it when it is full of barrels but a lot easier than a pile of barrels would be.

Zerust makes products(bags, film, etc.) for preventing corrosion.

On end OR on a flat surface. Seen engine crank shafts with run out "that it didn't have before" from being left on an uneven surface.
Prefer On End. ;)

I spray Rem Oil in both ends, then lay the blank on a length of Saran Wrap, hose it down with RO, and wrap it up tight.

Barrels bend. Lol I have barrels left in their tubes for years under my couch and when used they shoot great. No bullets making right turns from bends. Lol

Do not have barrel blanks and after the last one do not intend to buy another one, either or ever again. Way to much wasted time for a non CNC lathe.
