Barnard S Action

Greetings,
Looking for some feed back on the Barnard S actions. Up in the air over an S and a BAT / Defiance action.
I am a prone / LR shooter and have three Barnard P actioned prone rifles already. Looking for an action bit "smaller" for a 6BR based cartridge.
Thanks,
John

John,
The Barnard S and SM actions are not Rem. clones. The action screw spacing is the same but the distance from the front of the action to the front action screw is longer. Also the rear tang is mush different. They are a good action but do require a good gunsmith to get all the parts to play well together. Also if your going to use a trigger with a safety there is no cutout on the side of the action for the safety lever. On my SM I used a Huber trigger with the bottom safety.

+1 on Gundog's comments. I bought a Barnard S action for similar reasons, but ended up selling it and replacing with Defiance for all the reasons stated by Gundog. I already owned a bunch of Defiance Remington clones and it seemed like quite a hassle to do all this custom tweaking just to have a Barnard. Amazing actions: I just prefer a simple life where all my gear is the same and Remington-compatible. Defiance just came out with an integral rail/recoil lug action similar to the BAT VRPIC model. I'd give one of them a look if you use a picatinny rail.

Very good action. Very good quality.
I suggest the version with the hanger to user Remington triggers.

McMillan make fine stocks for the Barnard S Action.
