Ballistics Software Question?

What is a good ballistics software to get for my PC and iPhone these days. I saw one for $395.00, not that I wouldn't mind paying for a decent program .... but that is a bit much. Looked like a great program, but way too much info than I need for right now. Something that has preloaded ammo, BC's, scope reticles, then you just add the other necessary data, and off you go. I don't really need it, but it saves time and ammo. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just use the Hornady one with the advanced features selected. They have an app too.

Strelok Pro meets your needs, I think $5. Works well to 1100yd for me for 223 to 300WM, winter thru summer. No apparant deficiencies and convenient operation. It accesses the internal barometer in your smart phone.

Applied Ballistics works very well on iPhone . Includes features not
found on some solvers , like aerodynamic jump , temperature -
velocity scaling and the ability to true BC via DSF to your barrel .
Once you buy it from the App Store , you can then load it for free
onto other devices , like an iPad or other Apple product via your
Apple ID .

With AB you get access to a full library of G1 and G7 BC’s , and the ability
to purchase Doppler tested Custom Drag Models for a small fee for even
better solutions . Many other solvers are just stealing AB’s BC’s anyhow ,
I prefer to use the solver made by the folks who generated the data .

What was offered at $ 395 ? Be aware that some expensive solvers
are a license for one unit only : if you upgrade your device , you may
have to pay the ( expensive ) fee over again for another ‘ license ‘ !

He was probably looking at Field Firing Solutions. It is extremely sophisticated, and like you said, most likely a government contract. Applied ballistics is very good, but if you aren't shooting ELR, you can probably get by with one of the free apps. I"ve heard strelok and shooter are good, as well as JBM, and some of the manufacturers, like Lapua offer them too.

I have AB, Strelok Pro and Hornady 4DOF on my phone right now and if I just had to have one, it would be Strelok Pro. It is always within 0.1 mil of AB and the user interface is better.

Interesting Igor is more responsive, and app has much fewer errors than the other apps I use or read about. From Russia With Love I guess!

Strelok is by far the best maintained ballistic app for your phone. He is very proactive with his product and continues to improve and upgrade it constantly. I cannot say that for the other ones.

Another vote for Strelok Pro, Igor very responsive and the app is very easy to use (intuitive).

BallisticARC has some pretty cool features although it doesn't have reticles like Strelok. I don't use that anymore anyway.

Have you ever tried shooter ballistics I like it it works very well for me also applied ballistics on iPhone you cannot run multiple BCs and a few other features

An update on AB, if you change phones, there's no way to transfer or sync your data. You'll have to basically start over entering all your rifle and ammo proiles.

I don't think Strelok runs on Apple. I run on Android and strongly prefer it. Money goes to a Russian, not Russia. He is so busy giving strong online help to his users, I don't see him as a threat.
