ballistic data

background:
savage model 12 6BR : 30inch barrel, 1:8 twist, berger 105 vld target bullet.: BC 0.495,scope height 1.5 inches.
scope is 1/8 moa adjustments.
load is: lapua brass: varget 28.3 gr, loaded to 0.011 jammed.
I have not had time to do chronograph on this load yet, but currently it is shooting pretty well at 200 yards: holding about 1/2 moa groups or better if i can just be consistent on the benchrest.( iam working on better benchrest techniques)

my quetions for members: what do think would be the drop at 300 yards for this load? ( how many MOA correction would you think would be needed at 300 yards?)
given i have not had time to chronograph yet, iam playing bit of guessing game, weather too darn wet to chronograph.

thanks alot

Two problems:
1. You're using manufacturer published BC data. That's probably a bit higher than what you will actually experience.
2. You point out that you're "playing bit of a guessing game". So would anyone else who provided ballistic data without muzzle velocity information.

Best thing to do, shoot it at 300, 400, 500 then check those numbers against any chart you may run, you'll probably find that you need to fudge a number or 2 to get it to work out.

thanks for the input, i need day or so dry weather, then i will run chronograph to get more precise velocities

As the guys before have mentioned our input is relative since we don't have much to work with. However I can share with you two thoughts which might help:
1. I shoot a very similar platform and when shooting 300 yards I dial in 4.5 MOA up for elevation. Windage is determined by your wind but is generally under 1 MOA for me. Load for this is Reloader 15 @ 29.4 g, Berger VLD Hunting 105 g, to the lands. Speed for me measured with the magnetospeed is 2880 ft/s.
2. Reloader 15 is for me the best powder I tried thus far. It shoots great (1/2 MOA) @ 1000 yards. As trivia if you are interested I dial 29.5 MOA for elevation at this distance.

cat64: thank you for input: i was thinking about 2.5- 4 moa up elevation , i am zero in a 200 yd right now
WOW: for your 1000 yd shot: wow: 29.4 moa, that is alot of clicks,
someday i may be able to good enough to shoot at 1000yd,
for now baby steps at 300 yd, then this summer at 600 yds
i am shooting my first 300yd shoot this saturday, should be alot of fun
thanks again

What is your zero range? I am ssuming 200 yards but unless I missed it, you didn't say.

The information I provided is based on zero @ 100 yards. I am sorry I failed to mention this as it is important. Actually one might say 29 MOA for elevation is not all that much...compared to a 308 for instance. 8) ??? Good shooting.
