Bald Eagle Rest & Shadetree joy stick top

I used the stock cable-based windage adjustment for a while but became frustrated with its imprecision.

I went through the mod of removing the cable and changing to a direct-attach windage knob. Improvement was noticeable....for sure.

After using a friend's rifle outfitted with a Joypod, however, I looked into and ended up getting a Shadetree. OMG I love it. I was surprised at how much overall movement I was creating simply by raising my hand to adjust windage when it was direct connected. The Shadetree has totally eliminated that issue.

I have a bald eagle aluminum slingshot rest and was looking to order a shade tree joy stick top, but I don't know what thread i need. Can someone help out?

I don't recall the thread but I do recall having the same question. I emailed Butch (on his website) and he got back to me really quickly. Fantastic person to work with.

Just realized that I didn't check the Bald eagle website. Its 3/4"-10 for anyone that needs to know.

Thanks CarlGeorge for the response.

My Bald Eagle and Shade tree top spiced up a bit.View attachment 1170007

Yep I bought the offset handle. Just enhances a great rest top. Another thing I like about the new handle is it is removable. Makes the rest fit better in my rolling storage box. Don't worry now about damaging it.

I have a.seb mini that is a.great rest but the cast iron bald eagle with the shadetree top is much heavier and more stable.

55fairlane on this forum machined me some short feet for the bald eagle. Work like a charm for that back foot. Lots more clearance

I added about 5.5lb to my bald eagle cast iron with a set of leg locks made from a set of damper weights from a transfer case. It made mine very stable.
I also love my shadetree top. 20200419_192435.jpg

I've used a BE Slingshot for a long time. While the cable is a good idea, in practice it sucked, so early on I I converted it to direct-drive. I also went through the whole top to get rid of as much lash and slop as possible, so ultimately it worked pretty good. Last winter I bought a Shadetree top. I used it a lot this summer and now wish I'd made the change years ago. The Shadetree top works great! Like someone else said, it isn't a SEB, but for the money, its a good value.

I did considered putting a "bent" joystick on it (and I still may) because it interfered with the rear foot adjuster. But instead, I made a shorter adjusting screw (which still give me about 3/4" of adjustment, but it no longer interferes with the joystick.
