I have been using the Moly-disulfide powder on both front and rear cordura
bags for some time now and have had good results. With all the high humidity
we have had the last two months, the bags have been on the sticky side. Just
not as consistent it seems. Running low, and talking to Andy Murtaugh at the
Pa. TD-L match a few weeks back, he recommended I hunt down some carnuba
wax powder. PMA tool had Benchrite Bag Wax in stock and sent me a bottle.
Particulars......Other then the cordura bags; rifle is at 22lbs, and one of my all
aluminum chassis builds. Rear stock is transferable to two other rifles just by
using two screws. It's bottom riding section is 1.120" wide and railed.......Bags were
already treated with the moly so I did a simple free recoil measured test using
foulers and sighters. 5 rounds shot, and the average recoil movement was 3.25"
I then scrubbed off the bags the best I could with a towel and applied the carnuba
powder......Well, lets say the rifle almost came out of the front bag !! "WOW" Huge
difference. I was averaging for 5 shots about 4.5". Going to my match loads and
shooting free, the rifle now ticks my shoulder harder then before. I'm liking this
stuff.......Note.....It was a bit windy in the morning and the powdered wax went to
some other unintended places, so be warned.
Thank you "Andy" for the heads up......
