Bad primer - Wolf LR

Definitely something to be said about U.S. made primers. I do believe most guns, as do mine (when not using the brass I leveled the pockets on) shoot remarkably well with the Russian stuff also. That they cost 50% less is not too bad when one considers you can't often get what you might really want at less than inflated price - if at all. Provides good options not only for those on a budget - but also for serious benchresting. I know more than one VERY good shooter that use them as match loads. And they can afford others and wouldn't mess with them if they were too problematic. But they can be a problem for any gun that doesn't whack 'em good.

or more likely if the user does not seat them properly.....been documented many times.....
using a firing pin to seat primers is not a good thing.

Echo most of the comments here.

Wolf/Tula... although the best performing primers I've used, do have a much higher damage rate than American primers.

You have to keep an eye for bent cups and missing/damaged anvils.

I use Wolf SRM almost exclusively in 6BR and 6 x 47 Lapua with good results. Wolf LR in a 6.5 x 284 is another story. Many, many FTF and I checked everything; spring, firing pin protrusion etc. etc. Just a bad bunch of primers, I guess.

What powder? The mild Wolf/Tulas have been problematic with H335 for me.

I've run 30k of them since a buddy turned me on to them years ago.... and have another 30k on the shelf. I match them with H322 and XBR 8208 most of the time.

I've done a ridiculous amount of testing on these primers, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

NOT LIKELY....

I GO THRU MORE PRIMERS THAN MOST OF YOU.
up till the beginning of this year i would order almost every month.
i order 25-50k at a time.
i have been doing tula/wolf for 5 years or so.
my best guess is just over 2,000,000.
the number of problem primers can be counted on one hand.
everyone makes mistakes, you make millions of primers it is not unheard of to have a couple of bad ones.
but when you have 1000(one box) and you claim they were all bad....or even a bunch in one box....go look elsewhere.
the success rate of primers is one of the highest a of any manufactured product.

Ain't that the truth. Yesterday's trip to the range yielded a bad CCI BR-2. Wasn't a matter of improper seating either as the entire batch of 50 were double checked for seating.

That said, I do hate paying premium prices for primers that have the same issues as the lesser priced ones >:(
