Bad news for lovers of Kroil......

It works good on carbon
You probably messed around back in the day brewing
Ed;s Red. I still have a batch I substituted Marvel Mystery
for the ATF. What I would do after a range session of fire
forming, I'd soak a bore mop and push it up into the neck/
throat area. The following day, I'd patch out some black
sludge !!

I still use it sometimes!

I have read on this and other forums guys using Kroil for barrel cleaning.
While it may be fine for removing rusted nuts I have found that it does absolutely
nothing to help the removing copper or carbon in a barrel.
The only thing I have used Kroil in the barrel is to either remove leading or Moly.. does not do much on anything else.

BG products ( In Force) has earned my confidence after I had some rusted bolts on a boat trailer that the common penetrants wouldn't loosen after soaking and tapping with a hammer for weeks, about the time i was going to give up a mechanic friend at a Dealership recommended this and within 24 hours the bolts were free. Most don't know about this product because they don't cater to the retail market. customer.https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/specialty/bg-in-force/

I’ve used most of the stuff. I use beeswax for a lot of things. It is a good lubricant for tapping aluminum.

If im lazy ill soak my bore with Kroil and let it stand for a couple of days before I clean it. Besides me being to lazy to clean it rite away and pretending that the Kroil is helping it actually does seem to help getting that initial carbon out easy

Not the first such test I've seen and it won't be the last. I used to buy Kroil by the gallons. Now retired I buy spray cans and pints. I don't and wouldn't use it on machined ways or Jo blocks or other fine surfaces. GM Heat Riser Valve Lubricant has done a fine job a few times it was handy and I don't doubt there are many other products that do some good. Time and time in a hot tank work pretty well. For the quantities I now buy Kroil is cheap enough. I'll make a note of the CRC for easier shopping next time.
