Bad chamber?

You gotta be kiddin' me. Incompetence BEYOND the known universe. Probably one of those guys who think you buy a lathe, a few tools and get your buddy down the street who worked in a machine shop a few years in the 80s to show you what to do. If I'm seeing it right, those threads look like crap too.

Those grooves were around 30k deep. They ran in line from the throat to the base of the chamber and were allowing gas from a fired round to pass straight back to the action. Hence the black sooty case.

My friend took a rifle to a smith to have it throated out for longer bullets. It was throated out over .500 longer than the dummy rounds. He took it back to the smith...

Not sure the guy would've even gotten my repeat business after cutting a throat HALF AN INCH too long!!

Then, we he said he had to order a reamer, for something as standard and common as a 223 Rem?

Yep, I'm heading for the door to cut my losses.....

The question now is, after waiting 4 1/2 months, what is he doing in regards to squaring up over the original work, and cost associated with the first hack?
