Background Check for Gun Purchase - Delay Tactic in Use!

Texas here…
Just last month I informed my good buddy and FFL (no storefront) that I would be having a couple of pistols headed his way as Christmas gifts for my 22 year old daughter and 21 year old step daughter. He informed me that it would be wise to spread them out by at least 1 week, as he would be required to report them to the ATF if I purchased 2 handguns within a 1 week period. Even though I’m a CHL holder. Long guns do not have the same requirement.
Wishing all a wonderful New Year!

Being a CCW holder here in Nevada and buying from Cabelas or Sportsmans Warehouse all I have to do is fill out the 4473. Nothing is called in, however I have not tried to buy two handguns in one week.

I recently purchased a new CC gun, Ruger 380 ACP Max from Sportsman's Warehouse here in Oregon. I have a concealed carry license, so it only took about 20 minutes to pass. That's been the norm with a CC. Then 5 days later I saw at Sportsman's Warehouse a sale on a SAR 9 for $299, and I had a 10% off coupon code from buying the Ruger, and there was a $30 rebate for limited time on the pistol... so $229 final price. ;) (My friend got one a week back and likes it a lot).

So I decided I should get one before the new year! And with my CC I normally have it go through in 15 minutes. This time I got put to the back of the wait list, like 4,500 places behind everyone else, 3 weeks to clear this time!

Another person I know with a CC decided to get two guns within one week, first went through fast, second went to the back of the line. And, the salesman at the gun counter said ALL law enforcement is being kicked to the back of the line, every time.

There seems to be a new policy in place, if you are buying two guns within a week, they put you on a slow boat to China for the second one. I don't know if that's an Oregon thing, or if that's happening all over.
Please let me know what is going on in your area, thanks!
Y’all just keep voting that way..... LoL
What do you seriously expect? ...

Just don’t bring that crap to the S.E.

I've been a CCW holder since 2001. I 've only had 1 issue when buying multiple firearms at 1 time. About 4 years back I bought a Sig 220 (German) and a Benelli 20 ga. . The Sig went through in like 3-5 minutes. the Benelli I had to wait the 3 day limit. I've bought as many as 5 firearms on the same day in the past and never had any issues.....Go figure.

I have explained this many times before and will once more. The state of ultra-liberal Oregon, the (west/left) side of the state controls what can and will happen as far as firearms go, ... Period. Simply read the state police rules and regs and you will see what and why you are being treated the way you are, it is very easy to understand if you just open your eyes and look.

YOU voted in the "feel good liberals" of the west side, not the people of eastern Oregon. You can change it any time you want but you won't for who the hell knows why. Instead you keep acting like you can't understand why the west side of the state has the same murder rates as Chicago and LA.

Its like every part of NY and north california- they are ruled by one little sect of the state. Sad really when good folks get caught up. Gotta get out to vote, and carry somebody with you. Or these days do what they do, vote early and vote often

Have bought multiple guns at one go more than once within a week. Show GWL and walk. No wait. I think they reserve the option of calling you back if there was a problem.

I was born in Oregon. After I retired from the USAF I moved back to Oregon. It always irritated me that those in the East side painted everyone on the West the same way. It's like the Easties had a big chip on their shoulder or something.....

The truth is Multanomah county controls the policies of the state. About the broadest brush we can use would be to say the Willamette Valley controls the state.

Most of the West, especially Southern Oregon, is either conservative or moderate. Places like Roseburg, Medford, Grants Pass, Springfield. Much of the Coast, like Brookings, Gold Beach, Port Orford; is not liberal either.

All that is moot for me now as I am a proud resident of Northern Idaho. It feels a LOT like Oregon did in the 1960s and 1970s. Thankfully, most of the people moving up here are conservative and know very well why the places they are escaping have become disasters.

Butch I think that the Dave L Roth that dirty Steve knows spends most of his time in drug rehab. So his address may vary.

INTJ, yes it's good to see you made it to Idaho. However when Boise finish's becoming Liberal as it has been slowly doing for years now, it will be the same as where you left.

You see moving doesn't change things for very long, Bend Oregon is the perfect example of that. The only way you can keep what you have the way you want it is to stand up and fight for what you believe in where you are.

Not going to let it happen on my watch, and I have been fighting against this for a VERY long time. I left Oregon in 1980 for college and the USAF, and when I came back in 2007 it had changed.

Oregon is too easy of a move for Californians. Idaho is much harder. Idaho has real winters and it's not a quick trip down I-5 to get back to family and friends. The Californians I have seen up here want to escape progressivism. Also, Boise can't run Idaho like Portland can Oregon. While Boise isn't conservative like the rest of the state, it's not liberal either.

Not here in Arizona. If you have a ccw here you still have to fill out form but nothing is called in. They write down ur permit number on form and ur off. I was told by an employee at one store that the only way atf knows that you bought something is if they audit that store. If you bought from several places then all would have to be audited to know.
Same in Texas!

INTJ, I agree with you. I live in La Grande and I have seen the people from the once great state of confusion move to Oregon and of course they brought their liberal ways with them.
Now the libs have bought up all the property in eastern Oregon as well as they flee the west side of the state, which they made just like the state of confusion where they came from.

However, the jokes on them because we are finally getting a real winter! Every time this happens a lot of them move right out and and run someplace else to ruin. Last summer here it was 114 degrees in town over the summer and it's been 24-30" of snow and right at 14 below zero with more on the way this winter. Waaaaa is all we're hearing from them now.

All of us who love our side of the state can only wish them the best on where they go to ruin next, ... just don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Hope it stays this way here. We have a lot of liberals moving here complaining about our ways here. I dont understand leaving where you were and trying to change things where you move too. We were here first, if you dont like it leave.. sorry just too many changes here in last 15 years.
They leave because of all the liberal policies and then try to instigate them in the new location. Madness.

Since I moved to Texas, I’ve been meeting locals. Generally, the conversation starts with “Where are you from?” When I tell them I’m from Delaware, I usually get “that look”. Some folk are direct and ask me what my politics are and a few beat around the bush a little before they figure out a more diplomatic way to ask.
I kind of chuckle when it happens. I’ve developed a canned answer.
“I got tired of hiding my guns and conservative views so I came here.”
