Background Check for Gun Purchase - Delay Tactic in Use!

I recently purchased a new CC gun, Ruger 380 ACP Max from Sportsman's Warehouse here in Oregon. I have a concealed carry license, so it only took about 20 minutes to pass. That's been the norm with a CC. Then 5 days later I saw at Sportsman's Warehouse a sale on a SAR 9 for $299, and I had a 10% off coupon code from buying the Ruger, and there was a $30 rebate for limited time on the pistol... so $229 final price. ;) (My friend got one a week back and likes it a lot).

So I decided I should get one before the new year! And with my CC I normally have it go through in 15 minutes. This time I got put to the back of the wait list, like 4,500 places behind everyone else, 3 weeks to clear this time!

Another person I know with a CC decided to get two guns within one week, first went through fast, second went to the back of the line. And, the salesman at the gun counter said ALL law enforcement is being kicked to the back of the line, every time.

There seems to be a new policy in place, if you are buying two guns within a week, they put you on a slow boat to China for the second one. I don't know if that's an Oregon thing, or if that's happening all over.
Please let me know what is going on in your area, thanks!

Well if i ever have enough spare change to buy TWO GUNS in a week i will let you know!
But in the mean time that sounds awful strange. I would expect that here in NY also.
Waiting to here what others have to say. good luck

I thought there was as a caveat in NICS where, if they couldn’t get a hard pass/fail in X number of days (72 hrs maybe?), then it was an automatic, default pass.
Corporate policy can negate that. BTDT with a purchase at Dick's back when they weren't on the black list.

I used to run a sale back in the day. Buy a new Ruger SBH 44 & get a free Raver 25 auto. Had to do extra paper work.

Shoot, i don't know.

All i do know is when my coworker buys a new pistol, his aproval comes back before he's done filling out the paperwork.

Anything for me takes 2 hours.

Both born & raised out of state.
Both CCW permit holders.

Heck, we went together to renew our CCWs.
5 minutes, he was done.
Mine took... yep, 2 hours...

So, if I had waited another day, to be 6 consecutive business days, instead of 5, I could have my gun now and not in 3 weeks... I'll remember that, in case I have the very off chance of buying two handguns in same week.

Not here in Arizona. If you have a ccw here you still have to fill out form but nothing is called in. They write down ur permit number on form and ur off. I was told by an employee at one store that the only way atf knows that you bought something is if they audit that store. If you bought from several places then all would have to be audited to know.

I'd really prefer that to the Socialist State of Oregon's policy, dang...

Hope it stays this way here. We have a lot of liberals moving here complaining about our ways here. I dont understand leaving where you were and trying to change things where you move too. We were here first, if you dont like it leave.. sorry just too many changes here in last 15 years.
