AutoTrickler V4

I got mine yesterday. Definitely a bit of a learning curve. I zeroed the scale once with the cup off and target set and it started throwing powder. Whoops.
I am curious if anyone knows how to make it accept +/- .04gr. with N570 and a target of 91.3gr it will throw 91.26 then spend the time looking for another grain just to end up at 91.34. It's not a big deal just kind of takes a bit longer than needed some times, plus I like seeing the green light

My v3 does the same, either have a small cup of n570 with weezers or set it up to 91.4 and have it stop short.

Ready all 21 pages, watched F-Class John's YouTube videos. Got my A&D scale today. Decided to pull the trigger on the V4 tonight. Still need press, does, and primer press. Oh and the other major components like brass, primers, bull

Good start to your reloading career.

I'm going to try the "restrictor" trick on my V4 - I know there is someone here that sells the add-on "nipple" to the small tube that basically makes the diameter of the small tube smaller and it makes for a quicker and easier "last kernel" find. On my old Hornady however, I found a particular ballpoint pen that had a rubber grip that fit perfectly over that tube, so that may be a cheaper option if you can find the right pen :)

I have a chargemaster and dandy trickler before I upgraded to the FX 120i scale. Now I use the chargemaster to get my initial load and then transfer to the FX120i and use the trickler to get to the desired load. I’ve sped up the chargemaster so it’s not accurate but fast; like 7 seconds. Then it takes 15-20 seconds to trickle up to the exact weight on the FX scale. I can weigh a load in less than 30 seconds which gets me to about the same speed as the auto trickler. Someday I might upgrade but for now this modified system works well.

Yeah, you're just deluding yourself. Your workflow is what I had set up before the original autotrickler ever arrived on the scene. It worked fine but after a while, I would make a mistake and/or get out of sequence. There are so many minute and discrete steps. When the first autotrickler arrived, it allowed me to reduce the complexity of the workload, and put the Chargemaster in storage for good. I used a small measuring spoon to throw the initial charge and let the AT do its thing, while I prepared the case for reception of the measured load.

Then I would sometimes forget the initial load, or throw in too much or much too little and the AT would spin for a long time. The first autothrow was a good add-on and allowed me to return the measuring spoon to where it belonged. The second autothrow was a definite improvement of the first one, but I still add two devices and that AT was in the way a little bit. The V4 just made the whole thing simpler and I don't have to keep refilling the AT's cup.

You think you can match the V4 with your dual scale and manual trickler. You might be able to load one or two cases at the same speed, but you have to work at it. I charge 100 cases with my V4 in about 45 minutes. In the days of the setup like yours, that would take me over 2 hours. It's not the speed for one or two cases, it's keeping up the complex rhythm for lots of cases.

Last I heard he isnt making them anymore. The latest version of the V4 might have them incorporated.
He stopped because of the possible software update in the works. Last time he posted, he mentioned if the update does not come out in the near future he’ll be back to making tips.

The V4 cycling time isn't rocket fast but it allows you to relax and seat bullets while it is weighing. It's become a more pleasant experience.
about 10-12 seconds with my v4. Plenty fast and accurate compared to my former way.

I sorta wrung mine out over a couple of days this wk. First day it was slower than a std, non sped up Chargemaster, second day it seemed faster, didn't run them SXS again though. It was tossing a bunch of 02 low and then 02 high on the second day, was pretty consistent on the first day, all with the same powder. Hornady beam scale said it was tossing light, more than .1 gr, consistently. I'll have to do a bit of research on settings and environment to see what is what on it, but, I do like it. We'll see if there is any more improvement on paper next.
