I bought a Garmin when they first came out, long before the Athlon was available. The Garmin has seen a lot of use since I got it. In that time it has never missed a single shot. The Garmin will pick up a nearby shot, but it discards it without recording it.

If I had to do it again now, I’d buy a Garmin again. I figure if a Garmin is good enough to pilot my boat out on the water in darkness, or fog, or direct planes, it’s good enough to record the shots out of my guns. Other than some optics and now a chronograph, I’ve never really heard of Athlon.

I had the Athlon and it worked perfect. I compared it side by side to my magneto, numbers were very close to each other.

Two things that I didn't like about the Athlon, is you can not review the string and get back to the string to continue. You have to start a new string.
The 2nd, it doesn't have a live shot display app so you can see the shots live on your phone.

Based on a phone call with Athlon, a major update is coming end of January that will fix both my concerns.

ETA; I've had a 300 WM and a 338 LM on my sides (6' away), my Athlon didn't pick up the other shots.

I got a Athlon and i am in love with it! never has missed a shot and i have used it on rifles shotguns and on my bow and just on air rifle and bb gun!

They just plain work. I've had mine over 50 years, Pre-war Mod 70. Deer, antelope, rock chucks, sage rats and prairie dogs. I do use a bigger gun for elk, because I hunt in grizzly bear country. It's good for distances over 500 yards on sage rats and prairie dogs. These new calibers are just a fashion statement and PR to sell rifles. I have yet to kill anything that knew what hit them, dead is dead. "Beware of the man with ONLY one rifle."

Got today two days early, not sure when I will to go to the range to test.
So I’m just spending time learning the functions and getting the app set up. Happy so far but the proof in range time I guess
