athlon argos btr

anyone on here ever use the athlon argos btr scopes? ive read some reviews on them and they seem to be getting good reviews. ive also looked at the midas series which looks to me looks like there higher end series, im kinda debating on either this scope or hawke. im not really wanting to put a grand on scope right now. so any help would be nice. thank u

I just purchased two. I'll let you know once I get it set up. There are a bunch of reviews on YouTube. The only complaint is the turrets are mushy, but then there's a link to how to fix them! Turns out the o ring is over lubricated and once you clean it, the clicks are very loud and solid. I posted a link of a guy shooting his Desert tech 300 win mag at 1 mile with it! Also, his dad is shooting a Athlon Cronus at 1780 with a .338 Lapua Mag!

I've been using the 8-34x56 Argos BTR for about a year now. Actually have two of them (one on a .243, the other on my 6.5x47 F-Class rifle). Optics are plenty clear enough to clearly see 24" targets well past 1000yds. There is some CA fringing in the image but doesn't bother me too much. Actual reticle movement in the vertical is good on both examples (99.95% of dialed value) though windage leaves a little to be desired (103% of dialed value). Tracking is okay, not the greatest.

All in all, it's a great scope for the money and has served me well. Last local F-Open match I shot with it I placed second and the points I dropped certainly weren't the scopes fault.

I got my scopes in yesterday. I did a mini unboxing. I checked clarity, magnification dial, and turret adjustments as well. One noticeable thing is it has made in China written all over the place on the boxes and the bottom of the scope. It's an American company but the scopes are produced in China.

Overall I was impressed for a $330 Optic. The scope was clearer than my vortex HST and right on par with my Nikon monarch 3 (which I think nikons image quality is pretty awesome).

The magnification dial was perfect. It had just enough resistance to feel confident it will stay on the correct setting if you were to bump something, and it was smooth when moving from 6x all the way up to 24x. I didn't notice any clarity issues or fuzziness moving up to 24x. The image stayed clear throughout the magnification range.

The eye relief is good as well but not as forgiving as a higher quality Optic. You have to find that sweet spot on your rifle to get a perfect sight picture.

I can't get to a range so no tracking test was done, but the elevation turret was loud and had crisp clicks. It felt good dialing it up and done. The windage turret was mushy though and not Loud at all. I'm a little disappointed with that. There's a fix though. You can take the turret off and clean the o ring of excess grease and it tightens right up. Hopefully excess grease is the issue.

I'll provide feedback on this thread once i get them out to the range.
