Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that MidwayUSA has Athlon Argos and Midas BTR second focal plane scopes are on sale for $100-$110 off and free shipping.

I got the Midas BTR 4.5-27x50 for only $339. Weighing in at 26 oz and having 18.1 mils of elevation, it should make for a great hunting or varmint scope.

I have dealt with Athlon on a 6-30x56 Argos scope I was having a little trouble with and I can tell you first hand that their customer service is top notch. Had a brand new scope on my doorstep in less than a week after making the call. Same exact warranty as Vortex and they will back it up.

Holey Mackerel, just couldn't pass up the 4.5-27. I have no intention (but intentions change) to do any long range competition shooting so this should serve me well for what I'll do with my new Bighorn SR3 I'm getting together. I thought the 6-24 Zeiss Conquest with the rapid Z that was on sale at Cabelas was a great deal, but by the time I got there 2 days later they were sold out and had already disappeared from the website.

Yeah Ive had my hands on the Athlon Midas 4.5-27x50 at a local sporting goods store a couple years ago. Seemed to have an excellent build with solid turrets. Glass was nice and crisp edge to edge right up to max 27x. Not quite as bright as some of the high end european optics, but the resolution was excellent. I highly doubt there is a better scope out there for the price Midway is selling them. Probably not even for twice the price. Knowing how good Athlon backs up their warranty, I didn't hesitate to buy when I saw the sale.

I bought 2 of their Ares Btr's this year after visiting with them at the Shot show. 4.5 x 27 MOA units. I have 1 on a 338 Lapua and no issues at all. Very happy with them so far. A lot of scope for the $.
