They decided to ban alcoholic beverages in the 1930s, LBJ declared war on poverty in the 1960s, In the 1970s they declared war on drugs. Today they are waring against carbon fuels. These social programs all have one thing in common, someone got rich over the mess created, and it wasn't the average citizen.

The temporance movement worked wonderfully... Actually. Dispite what the Hollywood version tells the public.

Certainly giving your culture over to every vice and form of debauchery does not. As we are seeing today. And this is firmly supported by history.

I talked to a drug rehab guy years ago and he said all the people strung out on the hard stuff started with pot. We are given a lot of rope to hang ourselves with our irresponsibility .It wouldn't take much to take total control over peoples lives in such a screwed up society. Minimal effort for maximum results ,it is the perfect strategy.

Some anecdotal stories of what I consider problems or things that need a second thought. These come from the “things you wish your customers wouldn’t tell you” files.

There was the customer who used me as a reference for a zoning change variance. He wanted to open a “dispensary” in a residential area when medical use was legalized. The problem was that I knew of his 3 prior felony convictions of theft, fraud and money laundering spanning 20 years. He discussed them somewhat openly, the ankle monitor was a clue. That location was denied, but he opened 3 others in the county. That kind of raised warning flags to the lack of over sight. Couldn’t get a liquor license, but a dispensary was no problem.

The frequency of offers to trade goods for services became common. “I have a medical card, can we work out a trade” .

After recreational use was voted in, There was the customer who informed me that his “dealer would be dropping by and putting a package in his truck”. Then started pimping the guys business and quality control. “If you ever want to try anything let me know. Good guy, good products, been buying from him for at least 20 years.” Apparently he had filed the paper work to open his business, just hadn’t “officially opened it yet.” Thanks Mr customer, love it when I get to drive around in cars containing illegal objects.

Then there is always the customer who asks “ got a trash can I can drop something in”. Took me a while to figure out edibles had distinctive markings on the wrappers. A different customer pointed out that I might as well have empty whiskey bottles in the trash can of my office. Wonder how many customers assumed those wrappers were mine and consumed before working/driving their cars.

The number of “dispensary’s” owned by out of state interests would be a percentage number I would like to see. Can’t wait until we grow up to be a big city just like Seattle, Portland, or San Francisco.

Not being able to use my CCW to avoid NICS, is probably the least of my worries compared to the crap that has started to creep into the state with recreational use .

Of course they started with pot. And pot is NOT harmless.

Honestly, I grew up in a time where we started drinking beer and smoking pot in junior high. I'm no hypocrite to say I didn't. But the biggest druggies in my school back then are now DEAD or ex cons. Very few recovered. I watched drugs destroy the minds of my friends. Innocent children became lecherous narcasists, and that is not an exaggeration.

Now they sell pot as being HEALTHY on the same billboards on the highway that are trying to ban cigarettes. The world has gone insane.

Ban everything that someone has chosen to misuse. Got it. The car, the beer, ban it. What about drowning? Do we ban water?

Some things can not be done through legislation, regulation, and bans, sorry.
Point being, Alcohol is by far more damaging but it doesn’t get equal attention to opioids .

I’ve never seen anyone OD on pot, but I’ve lost a brother to Alcohol and two nieces to fentanyl.

The families that own the liquor business are LITERALLY some of the most powerful politically leveraged families in the country. Here and in Canada.

Booze, gambling, media, porn, drugs, Hollywood, Washington... The great Syndicate.

Well.. It certainly helped the Kennedy family make their fortune.

Well.. It certainly helped the Kennedy family make their fortune.

Pure propaganda. The myth that Joe Kennedy made his money "bootlegging" is a lie. Started by the Syndicate that I mentioned before that he was fighting against. And that ultimately murdered his sons.

"According to lore, Joe Kennedy built the family’s fortune by bootlegging. Just as George Washington is now known ‬for his rye whiskey distillery and Harry Truman’s love of bourbon famously helped him defeat his formidable opponent Dewey, the Kennedy family was synonymous with East Coast rum running.

The only problem with this story is that none of it is true.

In Last Call, author Daniel Okrent goes into great detail about how he couldn’t find any credible information to support the allegation that the Kennedy patriarch illegally sold alcohol during Prohibition, even though it is now normally treated as fact. ..."

It still blows me away that smoking a joint makes you a prohibited person (nice language, feds - really gets at the heart of it), but being a raging alcoholic does not.
I think it is because congress doesn't want to take up the issue because it is a politically volatile issue. So they allow it to happen by skirting around the law.

This is also why the DACA thing hasn't been handled properly / at all. They are afraid of the issue, so they find a way to get done what they want done without passing legislation. It needs to be stopped.

You are aware that there are Marijuana derivatives that contain no THC, they have no buzz or narcotic effect. There are some that are not medical bullshit. I do agree that there is abuse of the law on a large scale but your statement is emotional and half true

So do nothing. Poor argument. I suppose you don't think it's a gateway drug.

So, different subjects. CBD and "medicinal marijuana". I would have to agree a large, nay, a huge part of the medicinal marijuana is fraud. Easy slacker stoner BS. There are undeniable valid true medicinal uses of CBD. And since it has no THC it should be recognized in uses where it has been validated. Does the ATF differentiate ? I bought Cloud 8 from Amish in Idaho where THC is illegal, and went through the whole background check to get similar in Nevada where THC is legal. Dude is confusicated.

Can you please cite an example where the government stepped in and regulated or banned something with positive results?

Prohibition?
War on drugs?
Gun control?
Healthcare?

What?

At what point do we realize it’s up to the individual to make good decisions? No matter if it’s “drugs”, alcohol, or whatever people do. People are going to do what they’re going to do, and if if there’s a demand or market for it, then the demand will be met. It’s up to the individual. Evil exists, always will.

Change my mind……

I don't know how cbs got ahold of that photo off my phone.

In any case, my sister-in-law makes a killing as a graphic artist for one of the major distributors here in Michigan. Our state motto might as well be "Pure Weed." Man, you can't walk for weed around here.

Michigan in not even close to Oklahoma in number of dispensaries. Note that Michigan has 10 million people. Oklahoma has 4 million people.
