ATENTION SAVAGE EXPERTS!!

I just bought a Model 12 long range precision varminter. It has the "target" action. Right hand bolt, left side load and eject. WHAT one peice 20MOA Picatinny rail fit's it???? The Seeking's I bought has the little recoil lug thingy on it, so the base will not sit flush. HELP!!!

For my Savage rifles, I like the Ken Farrell sights. He does them in aluminum or steel, and Picatinny or Weaver. You also have a choice of 0, 10, 15, or 20 moa pitch.

I agree with James, EGW makes very good Picatinny rail mounts, they're available with 0, 15, 20 & 25 moa and reasonable priced. I have purchased several of his mounts. They make two models which fit all the Savage round back short actions, a 6&1/2" and a tactical 8&1/2" mount. I prefer the 6&1/2" mount as the extra 2" in not needed and being I have several Government Gen III Springfield's with 30mm 56mm adj/obj the shorter base doesn't require me to use extra high rings to clear the bell. My 50mm Scopes with side focus don't have a problem using the longer base being their bell is a smaller in dia. Give George a call 215-538-1012 he'll answer all your questions.

buzzsaw, if the holes line up just grind off the recoil lug from the scope base. lately i've been glueing basses to the actions with 2000# epoxy. be sure to put release agent on the screws. when you want to remove the base just heat up with clothes iron or heat gun. comes right off______treeman

Buzzsaw, I used to go the one-piece rail route until I realized that all of the Savage actions tweak the one-piece rail a little bit because the holes are not perfectly lined up.

So, I use two piece steel bases and then use Burris Signature rings on all of my rifles. For the long distance shooters I am using -20/+20 in back,top/bottom) and +20/-20 in front, again, top/bottom). This puts me almost at the bottom of the elevation adjustment for most of my scopes and would easily be enough for 1k yards.

Plus, the scopes will never have ring marks and the action won't be slightly tweaked.
