Armadillo digging over

I’ve heard an old wives tale maybe someone can say is true or not but I’ve heard somewhere that they carry leprosy

I've heard that all my life. I researched it, they have a low body temp that makes them susceptible to leprosy.

Whether or not they do or not you only have to tell me once. I'm not touching them. I'll gladly let the yotes clean em up...hopefully they catch it.

I’m fairly new here and don’t know all of the proper terminology-but from what I’ve gathered- would that be considered a “snert”? Lol..
A proper snerting is chin and higher...I've started calling the "cut in half ones a "Fredo" in honor of the 220 redline

From the New England Journal of Medicine as quoted in the Smithsonian Magazine : "Only the nine-banded armadillo is known to carry the disease. And, most people in the U.S. who come down with the chronic bacterial disease get it from other people while traveling outside the country."

I used to kill armadillo because of the digging and because they'd wake my dogs at night and the dogs would wake me. We don't have 9 banded here and after I found two Yellow Jacket nests completely destroyed down to the cleaned out combs, and I do mean cleaned out not a single egg or larave left, I'd rather have the armadillos than the Yellow Jackets. Plus around my place they compete for slugs with the moles; again I'd rather have the armadillo than the moles.

And man, those things jump and bounce when shot!
The one in the first post didn’t jump. I have seen it before, shot one with a .40 glock one evening and I swear it looked like he came 4’ off the ground. He ran off and I never could find him??

I absolutely love this forum! I’m going to ride around my hunting land this afternoon and see if I can “snert” or “fredo” an armadillo!! I Bushhogged for a few hours and we just got a good rain...maybe they will be out!

I used to hunt hogs with a guy that was a couple of fries shy of a happy meal. He had a pit bull that was grey brindle and had the biggest head ive ever seen on a bull dog. We didn't care which side of the fence we were on much back then and he named this dog poacher. Poacher would every now and then get his jaws around one of the dillers and would bite it until it popped. The first time I head it was like, "what was that?"

You shoot them with a 22 rimfire and boy oh boy what fun. They jump high and repeat it like a yo yo.

Hit 'em egain on the jump. Handgun fun #1.
