Arken

Are the Arken scopes any good ?
They are a tremendous value. I tried the SH4, I was curious, it was better than I expected. It tracked accurately, everything work and held its zero. Eye box was a little touchy. The negatives for me was the weight, it’s heavy and it’s size, it’s big. I ended with 3 of those that I still have on some rimfire rifles, they were on a 7 Saum and 6.5 creedmoor.

This year or late last year they offered a new lightweight model, the EPL4. I like these better. They are lighter, considerably lighter, slightly shorter too. They offer all the same features but are built with 30mm tubes instead of 34mm. If you’re after an Arken for hunting this makes a lot of sense. If you’re after one for shooting from the bench or something then maybe you want one of the bigger ones. Their top of the line is their EP5 series.

They are made in China but Arken is owned by Vets, guys trying to offer a tremendous value in long range optics and I think they’ve done a good job at doing just that. They aren’t top tier glass but they compete with scopes costing 2-3 times as much.

Ok thanks good information vet owned is a big deal too me .

Kochie, every Arken scope is FFP (front focal plane), and made in China.

Arken has been discussed recently. The search function will yield all kinds of helpful info.

Totally agree here. And the huge plus is we are supporting our Vets. Very happy with my decision to sell all my Leupolds and go with the EP-5.

They are expanding into barrels and chassis for Savages under the Outlier brand. I presently have one for a Savage Axis in 308. The setup so far is very impressive and well thought out, the barrel is Nitrided coated and has a lifetime warranty. It's not being sold as a benchrest setup but with initial testing is showing great promise as a PRS/longrange starter gun.

First 2 rounds out of the new gun to boresight and get a quick zero. Next 3 shots roughly 1", second shooter shot next 3 shot group even better, next 3 shot group another shooter even smaller. Fourth 3 shot group by my Son. Each group got smaller, no breakin, no load development. They wanted to see what it would do right from the git-go. 100 yards in really windy conditions that day. 185 Juggernauts at 2706 fps.

I've had a few Leupolds, only one now. For longrange type matches, especially rimfire I'll take the Arkens any day over a Leupold. Name brand means little to me, give me good mechanics, a reticle I can see and use and great warranty if needed with a good price point and I'm a happy camper. Yes, we do have Schmidt & Bender, NF and various Vortex models so we have a few to compare to.
