Arkco Labradar Base

Does anyone have any experience with Arkco's new larger Quad Base XL for the Labradar? Has a 9" footprint versus the 6" footprint of their original model.

Thanks

Will it still fit in the soft case attached? I use the original and no issues with stability, but mine sits on a level poured concrete slab top.

The standard Arkco base is the only I've used since buying the LabRadar some years. I use it often and everything folds up nicely to fit in the LadRadar soft case. Stability has never been a problem. I can't see any use for a larger base, but the upgraders and newschoolers might perceive such a need, real or imagined.

I am not exactly sure either the purpose behind increasing the footprint. I sent Arkco a message to see what they say the purpose of the larger footprint is.

Perhaps it's nothing more than marketing; many will buy something only because it's a newer version, not because it's better than what was already available. These folks erroneously call such a practice "upgrading".

I heard back from Matt Owens at Arkco. He indicated that he was getting requests for a larger version, produced the XL version and made it a permanent offering after they sold pretty quick.

I find that the original just fits the available space on the bench with the LabRadar conveniently placed. The XL would not work for me.

I am going to go ahead and get the original 6" footprint base. Living out here in Kansas had me thinking the bigger footprint may be better when dealing with the winds we have out here which is why I was considering it.

The wind would have to be incredible to affect the original base. WInd speed would be so high you wouldn't want to be shooting under such conditions.
