David - that's good to know. Was wondering if there were any stability issues with the smaller footprint. No experience with the larger footprint, but the original works just fine for me.
I am not exactly sure either the purpose behind increasing the footprint. I sent Arkco a message to see what they say the purpose of the larger footprint is.The standard Arkco base is the only I've used since buying the LabRadar some years. I use it often and everything folds up nicely to fit in the LadRadar soft case. Stability has never been a problem. I can't see any use for a larger base, but the upgraders and newschoolers might perceive such a need, real or imagined.
Perhaps it's nothing more than marketing; many will buy something only because it's a newer version, not because it's better than what was already available. These folks erroneously call such a practice "upgrading".I am not exactly sure either the purpose behind increasing the footprint. The wind would have to be incredible to affect the original base. WInd speed would be so high you wouldn't want to be shooting under such conditions.I am going to go ahead and get the original 6" footprint base. Living out here in Kansas had me thinking the bigger footprint may be better when dealing with the winds we have out here which is why I was considering it.
