Are you switching to a magnum for F-class or BR?

With so many shooters switching to magnums, especially in F-Class I wanted to warn about a potential problem if you run a BAT action. If your rifle was built before the change to the new style bolt you most likely will not have enough room under the bolt handle. The new style handles are at a lower angle and will hit the stock if inletted for the old bolts. This is not good for accuracy. So if you buy a new bolt for an existing rifle, check this.

I have a couple friends with some older BAT Actions and not sure if they know whether they have new or old bolt styles. Is there a general guideline model year wise I can advise them as to what's considered the old style?

Alex does this explain why I've been seeing bolt slots cut damn near to the bottom of the bedding? The shallower angle?

I was told several months ago, perhaps it has changed, that the new style bolts were on a select few actions, not an across the board change. I received an SB action from them and had been told it's was one of the last ones they were making. I found out months later by ordering rings that they still had SB blanks on hand, so I bought a second. It came with the new style bolt, which I returned and kept action body. I got lucky and a friend found a guy selling out and got 2 more old style complete bolts. I too like the old ones.
