Are you guys paying this much?

What some may not know is that wholesalers pricing has gone up. Major retailers have to pay more just to get the product. So they get it and sell it for more or they dont have it at all. In fact major retailers have gone out of biz because they bought high as a service to us then prices came down. When you can sell 10 times more than you have are you gouging? This is not a new thing and it goes both ways. Theres almost no money in firearm related retail. Many consumers are buying just to re sell and retailers know that. Things will relax as soon as the "xxx has powder in stock!" threads stop.

Reminds me of trying to increase volume by selling at a loss. A sales person might say, "Yeah, we are losing a little bit of money at this price point, but we'll make it up with volume.......

I’ve had some Berger bullets on back order with Creedmoor Sports for a few months now. CS sent me an email explaining they can’t honor the back order price due to a large wholesale price increase from Berger. The new price Creedmoor offered was only slightly higher because they absorbed about 80% of the increase selling them to me retail at the same price I see on the Graf dealer website.

Is this the way it is going to go with Berger bullets from now on, or is this Midway pricing ?
No, I'm not buying any reloading components at inflated prices. I'm in good shape for about a year and can wait it out. Yes, I do believe good ol' Larry is gouging a bit.

Nope!
All it means is that I might have to start shooting Sierra, Nosler or Hornady.

Berger very likely thinks it is the most proven, best match bullet choice extant. Prices to us have crept up for a couple of years.

IMO Hornady’s A-Tips, setting a new upper-end price point in the mass-produced match bullet market, put the price ball into Berger’s court: are we pricing our bullets as the first tier and finest in this game, or not.

I've wondered if the price point on the Atips was what was also driving up costs.
I'll wait for, and shoot customs at those prices.
Who's making a custom 7mm?
I don't personally have one yet but the thoughts are there.

For those of you that were reloading and competing pre-NOV2008, this shortage seems very familiar....
I was, and I dare say that this shortage has gone a little deeper, and what little recovery (minimal re-stock) I see is significantly more inflated than when components started to return to the market in 2010.
My sob story.... I tried to get in front of my own, eventual NOS ABLR 7mm hunting bullet shortage in August of last year - fearing that components would go missing again. Well..... I was a little late. I was able to backorder them, with a '3 week' ship date. The order got bumped all the way to February of this year, and eventually cancelled by this well-known supplier.
Here is an interesting article - interviewing the Federal CEO regarding the shortages....

Cows, horses, toilet paper and the likes are going up at unprecedented rates now and it’s moving into reloading and hunting items. If they have it and you need it I’d suggest buying it because the prices aren’t coming down any time soon. We can gripe and complain but come back to this thread in a couple years and you will be wishing you had bought it all then at those prices. The Dip Chit people in power are quickly destroying our country so you had better get use to it for now because it’s not getting any better any time soon, thr just getting started…

I think your right. Not too long ago here we were talking about powder prices, I said $40 a lb. was too high and I wasn’t going to pay it. Well we’re already there and I was wrong. If your going to shoot you have to keep planning ahead, because it may get worse instead of better.
