Are Suppressors Worth Buying--Your Opinions?

I guess it helps you look cool. You still need ear protection. Shot a round you can handle and recoil is not an issue. It will change barrel harmonics so could help, could hurt but only if its an ACCURATE rifle to start with, someting else to clean, increase cost of the sport, the guys in the video games all have them. Now it’s everyone's choice to have one or not. But if the op thinks about it, are many folks inclined to say I spent a good chunk of a grand for nothing? Never underestimate the power of advertising and for someone to part you from your hard earned dollars, they love them. If you spent your money and you’re happy, good, but they are not for me.
I feel the same way.

I only had to shoot my rifle once with a muzzle brake and I was off to buy a suppressor. My Tikka's shoot extremely well with a can on. Tip for them unscrewing is to use a bit of PTFE tape on the threads. It doesn't last but just gives a bit more grip. Anyone worried about heat, put a cover with a bit of insulation on it.

I’m sure there great but at my age I rather spend that money on other rifle parts.
Yup,. You can Buy, a WHOLE, New Tikka T-3 Rifle for, the Price of, a Can IF, you Shop around,.. a Bit.
Got 3, Great Brakes with, PROPER Port "Direction" ( for very Little,. Blast / Concussion at,. the Shooter ! ).
NO,.. thanks !

I had a suppressed AR 5.56 and a 7.62 bolt gun for killing deer in neighborhoods and they worked great with subsonic ammo and short range. But with standard ammo it was best to use ear plugs or muffs. I would like one on a shotgun though. :D

Seeking opinions. Does anyone regret suppressing and why? Thanks, James
Absolutely worth it depending on your use. Less recoil. Less noise. What's not to like! Apart from generating more carbon and fouling I suppose....
I've also used them on target rifles with silicone covers. Not so great. The mirage coming off the barrel and suppressor can be a problem, particularly on colder days. And the increased fouling. So for that purpose I wouldn't recommend it.
Get the largest thread your barrel can take. I try not to cut off too much metal.

I have one but I am not that impressed. If you use subsonic ammo with it it is truly quiet and is everything a suppressed round should be. With supersonic ammo you should still use hearing protection because the supersonic crack just isn't that quiet. Overall it is quieter but still not "movie" quiet unless using subsonic ammo.
