Are Suppressors Worth Buying--Your Opinions?

Seeking opinions. Does anyone regret suppressing and why? Thanks, James

I don’t have any, but have not talked to ANY of my buddies that has them that regrets it. Every one of them has bought more after the first…that’s out of 10 plus people that I know personally.

Worth it on every gun that will host one. I'm only short a Shotgun can due to lack of great options. I will most likely settle for what's available in the near future.

If you are on the fence, start with a rimfire can. They are relatively inexpensive and very effective. Turn around time on paperwork has never been faster.

This is true. My first one only took 23 hours to get approved. That was this week

I won't buy a centerfire rifle that doesn't have the muzzle threaded. Wish I had a rimfire or serviceable can.

I currently don't own one but I'm considering it.
My issues are having reduced barrel length to keep AOL to reasonable barrel lengths (26-28") .
While down range noise is reduced considerably you still need hearing protection when firing . I was out a couple weeks ago and a guy and his 10 year old son were shooting a 28 Nosler suppressed. Definitely made some noise at firing point, but his son was able to beat his dad at 200 yds group wise.
AOL of barrel and suppressor was a touch over 30" which for a walking/hunting rifle is pretty long IMHO.

I have a few. There's OK but I don't like managing the added heat they offer.

YES, I have regrets, my biggest regret is that I didn't buy one 25 years ago. I now own 5 and don't want to shoot anything that doesn't have one attached or around anyone without a can. Positive aspects, lower recoil and noise , negative aspects, NONE.

zero regrets and I have a bunch of them. prefer to shoot with a suppressor than without one.

Most of my hunting/varminting guns have one and I wouldn't be without them.

They can be less than ideal on target guns with long fast strings. Even with an insulated cover, you can still get troublesome heat mirage through the scope.

I had a 26" 223 varmint rifle threaded, no issues from a bench for prairie dogs. For carrying 22" and under seems fine. Get a serviceable 30 cal can for rifle versatility, I like my full auto rated can for tactical reasons.

Research the type of gun and shooting style. If you want something for a battle style semi auto, get a flow through style

A suppressor is the top 1 or 2 shooting accessories I've every purchased. You'll have wished you would have bought one sooner once you use one. The only negative is you'll get cranky when you're around shooters that aren't shooting suppressed haha

I guess it helps you look cool. You still need ear protection. Shot a round you can handle and recoil is not an issue. It will change barrel harmonics so could help, could hurt but only if its an ACCURATE rifle to start with, someting else to clean, increase cost of the sport, the guys in the video games all have them. Now its everyone's choice to have one or not. But if the op thinks about it, are many folks inclined to say I spent a good chunk of a grand for nothing? Never underestimate the power of advertising and for someone to part you from your hard earned dollars, they love them. If you spent your money and your happy, good, but they are not for me.
