Are Fiocchi primers good?

I tried a few rounds laded with the small rifle Fiocchi primers. I couldn't detect any difference then any U.S. brands. Your thoughts?
Is this for precision target shooting??
If so leave them on the shelf.

We had to use the standard Small Fiocchi primers at The WBC in France and they were absolute JUNK. Erratic loads, couldn’t handle any pressure just rubbish

Cups very thin. I swear they were for small CF like the 22hornet etc out of those small rifles like the CZ

One shooter pierced 30 primers and before that never had.

They do make a thicker cup so that’s the only one I would even consider. And that would be with extreme caution

Cheers
Michael

The few people here in the States that I've corresponded with that are using them haven't reported piercing. They must be the thicker cup.
I did have an opportunity to pick some up from a gun shop while I was in Wyoming last year at a decent price and passed them up. Hight sight is always 20-20.

I use them for 9mm pistol. I haven’t bought them for rifle yet. Listening for feedback.

Thanks for the info!!!!!

Some scuttlebutt I saw somewhere on Youtube (so it must be true ) said that Remington is using Fiocchi primers in their loaded ammo. No mention of size.

I have loaded 1,500+ 223 rounds using Fiocchi small rifle primers and they have worked great, all of them have gone bang and the observed accuracy is on par with other primers I use.

The cup thickness on the ones I have seems comparable to CCI 400s, i.e. not very thick. I have had two pierced primers when I tried them for stout loads, I now use them only for medium loads. They seat similar to CCI primers as well, not oversized in my experience.

The ones I have are silver in color and the boxes are marked Small Rifle Primer. I believe Fiocchi also makes a small rifle magnum primer, I have not had any experience with those.

The standard Fiocchi cups are nowhere near the same as CCI400 primers. At least the ones we used in France were not. I had silver here at home and the ones in France were coated like Winchester. They both behaved the same - erratic.

I suspect there thick cup NATO Spec is like the standard CCI400, Federal, Winchester primers, not like CCI thick cup or its somewhere in between.

I couldn't find the photo's but these Fiocchi will extrude up into the firing pin hole in a bolt even at 0.001 to 0.002" clearance. And the loads were not hot for N133 - 29.0gns which is very mild

As I said I think they are thin like a Remington 6 1/2 primer which is used in a 22 hornet or similar.
For competition use I would steer clear no matter the price.

Never used the rifle but the shotgun primers are great. Ordered some cheddites to try because of price…aint biting on what the gougers are wanting for the others.

I have used many of the small pistol primers for target practice and found them to perform well.
Then with the current primer shortage I took a chance on some Large Rifle primers I found for my 284 F-Class rifle. Bottom line they shot very well in two matches 595 and 597.
As other LRP's have become "somewhat" available I have been able to compare the Fiocchi side beside and have found them to have about the same or slightly better SD as the Remington 9-1/2 and S&B, and much better than the CCI 200 and Fed 210. I have not Compared to BR2 or 210M as those are still AWOL or just too damn expensive when available. But with that said in a previous life I did compare Fed 210 and 210M and found no difference, so that being said I'm not willing to shell out the $$$ for those at this time.
Bottom line - I use the Fiocchi as my primary, bought an additional 3k and would not hesitate to get more.
