The Bog Deathgrip is a pretty solid tripod for the money. It’s clamping mechanism works fine but after seeing how easy it would be to adapt it to an Arca clamp, I did so this morning. Its pivot yoke is bolted to the clamp gizmo with four M6-1.0 screws on a 20.5x45mm bolt pattern. I clamped a piece of 1.5” x 3/8” aluminum bar in the mill vice, drilling and taping that pattern along with a 1/4-20 hole in the center to attach the Arca clamp.
Was a simple project but thought it might be worth mentioning here for anyone not wishing to spend $500 on a better-featured tripod.
There are many Arca clamps out there. These were very inexpensive but seem tough enough:
Out of a longer piece of that aluminum bar I made the rail for this CZ457. I also machined an Anschutz ”T” slot in the rail to accommodate the bipods I made this past Spring. When on the tripod, the bipod serves only to balance this stubby-barreled rifle.
