Arbor press, Harrell or Sinclair?

The youtube video was funny.
That guy was nearly coming off his chair operating it!
Can't imagine how mismatched that die/bushing -vs- his chamber must be, given that this is merely neck sizing...

My sizing with an arbor/Wilson die is a mild finger pull operation,, smooth as butter.
If any of you struggle to size with a Wilson(rare), you might have your gunsmith chamber a Wilson die blank -to match YOUR chamber. Might as well have him chamber a seater blank while he's at it..

I use the Sinclair Arbor. Works fine. I'm sure the Harrells would work fine as well.
But if you're ordering your dies & stuff from Sinclair you might as well get their press and combine the shipping. Right?

I bought the Harrell, but it was a "beefed up" version according to them. It's not listed on their web site but was told about it when I spoke with one of them (can't remember who it was). I think the handle is longer and some of the innards were different.

Do you have any pics?

Pics? I don't currently but I can take some tonight. Not sure you'll see anything different except the handle. I don't particularly want to take it apart to see the innards. Since their reputation is honorable, I took their word for it. Give 'em a shout and ask them about the differences.

Here are the pics. It doesn't look much different than 338Lapua's pics. However, I think the handle is longer.

Can't remember what else is different in the "beefed up" version.

I started BR back in the early 80's long before Harrell and I picked up a Sinclair as they offered a good deal on a combo with Wilson dies. I'm still using the Sinclair and I've had that press alittle over 25yrs now. When I got the 300 Utra I got Wilson dies and set of Neil Jones arbor dies for the 30-378wby.

Bad habit I picked up shooting BR was loading at the range and I still do it. I've had afew things made by Harrell but they got their start by coping so most everything they did was someone else idea. Sure they sell thing cheaper but I'll support places like Sinclair/Hart/Bruno's etc.

oldroper,
I can 100% respect and appreciate that, I always support my locally owned hardware, drug stores,ect..... I NEVER shop @ wallmart, wallgreens, or any other big Chinese box stores. I would have bought the Harrels over the sinclair because I am fairly new @ this and didn't know any better. I stated in my first post on this thread something to the affect that I had several Sinclair products and were happy with them, I don't know why I would have suggested or ventured past my personal experiences, Thanks for opening my eyes to that fact.
Wayne.

Not to muddy the waters but have you looked at the 21st Century Shooting’s New Arbor Press? www.21stcenturyshooting.com. I have this unit coupled with Wilson dies in both 22PPC and .17 Rem Fireball. It's welll made and priced reasonably.

Hi all...Just wanted to jump in a little with my story...I recently bought a used Harrells arbor press. When I got it it looked fine but when pulling the handle it I felt a catch or binding feeling that I didn't like. I called Harrells this AM and talked to wonderful guy named Dennis. At first he offered that I just send it back and then they would fix it....on a used press...He then took about 20 minutes with me on the phone to explain how I could fix the problemmyself if I wanted to. Regardless of other stuff...service like that is where its at for me. I'm sure Sinclair and others are good too but I can't see how any could be better...Best Wishes All

I like to hear stories like this one, makes me feel good that there are still a few honest business people left in the world, as far as arbor presses go I think anyone of the ones mentioned on this thread would do that for you but many companies out there would NOT give you that kind of customer service. You know 22brguy, its none of my business but you might copy and paste your post and email it to Dennis, I am sure it would make him feel good and they might put you down on there testimonials page ;) Thanks for your input.
Wayne.

Thanks Wayne...will probably do that if I can figure out how to copy and paste (I'm just not too computer literate yet) but it is a good idea and its real...Best Wishes
