AR Tactical

I've been wondering about the CMP allowing a 22inch barrel for AR Tactical and the reasoning for allowing longer than 20 inch. Can anyone explain this? Obviously the owner of a CMP 22" cannot cross over and compete with the NRA AR Tactical legally.

Cmp allows AR Tactical in long range while the nra does not.
I have a .223 Wylde 75 grain eld-m load that is marginally Supersonic at 1000 yards out of a 20” tube at sea level & depending on atmospheric conditions…..pushing it pretty hard, it usually runs between 1180-1230 fps (at 1000 yards).

A 22” barrel if it added 50-60 fps would be enough to keep it supersonic.

Also, the CMP likely crafted the class rules to allow as many competitors as possible….and there are quite a few factory built AR10’s with 22” barrels.

The CMP is in league with barrel manufacturers to sell more barrels.
I can't come up a reason for the 1903 Mk I to no longer be legal for the sniper match (after years of allowing them).
