AR hunting rig

I have limited experience shooting ARs in .223. What caliber would you guys suggest for use in informal paper punching out to 500m and shooting hogs, the pineywood rooter kind)? I like the idea of the 6.8 shooting 115 gr Corelokt bonded or maybe the 110 VMAX. In 6.5 calibers, I think of the 123s for use in both. For the 6mm calibers, I think the 105s+ would be the choice. What are your opinions?

For feral hogs and the 6.5mm, I recommend 120-130gr hunting bullets. Leave the 123gr. target bullets at home when it comes to a pig.

I made up a bolt gun in 6.8SPC and would not hesitate to use it on pigs up to 400 pounds with the Barnes Triple Shock or the Bonded Corelock bullets. Here is a link to the thread on my website: http://www.blaserpro.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=311&start=0

I have both an AR and a Savage in 6.8. Like was mentioned above, the Barnes Triple X should be the hot tip for piggies.

Some of the early 6.8 AR bbls had a short throat and will not take hot loads. Some of the loads that are safe in my PacNor bbled Savage will lose their primers when shot in my Model 1 6.8 upper. I am going to deepen the throat on the AR bbl to the same length as the PacNor bbl. Fortunately I ordered it without chrome lining so it will be no problem.

My Savage will shoot the original SSA loads at app 2800 FPS. 2600 is about the limit with the short throat AR.

I have a 6.8 AR,18" 11 twist with the Saami chamber that shoots the 110 TSX at 2750, 90gr TNTs at 2950fps.
My new 6.8 has the DMR chamber in a 12 twist Krieger, It has a throat between the SAAMI and the #2 chamber to optimize performance when loaded to the max length allowed by PRI mags,2.30)and is a little tighter in the neck area.
With the SPC/Grendel size case I like lighter bullets, 90gr TNT in the 6.8, 110TSX for hogs, 107 in the 6.5, and the 95gr SMKs in 6mm. I'm building a new 6mmBanshee,6mmAR with a 25 degree shoulder)on a 10 twist Shilen just to try the 95s.
