Should be able to tear up a one inch red target sticker with the ammo it likes, with a good quality barrel, aftermarket trigger, and scope.I got an ar45 in and am unable to get better than 1 1/2 to 2" groups at 25 yards scoped. I have tried 6 or 7 loads, factory and handloads. I have tried 3 scopes, 2 different handguards and barrel nuts. I even had the barrel recrowned even though it looked good. Reading about other blowback carbines online, most of them get much better accuracy. My next step is to replace the barrel but I don't want to spend that $ if I don't need to, any ideas?
I shoot 9mm ARs and barrels from different manufacturers are of varying quality...even reputable barrel would not accept bullets over .3550 dia bullets .3553 to .3555 wouldn't chamber! Ordered a 9mm reamer from Brownells to correct that after making a resizing die that was too much trouble to resize every 9mm bullet. So I scrapped or reworked half of my 9mm barrels.
I use a adjustable weighted buffer, a machined aluminum buffer stop to keep the bolt overall travel just past the mag. Glue in the barrel with sleeve retainer loctite. Sometimes it shoots 1" at 100 yards...but will shoot most ammo I reload into 1" to 1.5" at 50 yards. You can load the 9mm to plus p in the AR and get fantastic velocities like 1720 fps with 115 gr bullets or 1600 fps with 124 gr bullets 1300 fps with 147 gr...1900 fps for copper 75 gr sinisterfire bullets. With over 700 ft/lbs of muzzle energy from a 10" barrel. Good for consistant hits at 200 yards on 10" steel with 3 mils of drop with 115 grs at 1720 fps...not much left at 200 yds, gotta listen, but they hit hard at 100 yds for a punny pistol round...plus it's just fun.
