AR 15 in 7.62x39

Can an 7.62-39 run well in an AR platform? When I looked at this years ago I was told none of the guns would run well cause they needed to use a magazine that was curved like the AK magazine and there was not enough room in the standard AR magazine well to make one of the curved magazines fit. Do the 7.62-39 AR guns of today run as well as a GOOD AK gun does? What non 223/5.56 chamberings do you like, if the commie round is marginal? I like the 6.5 Grendel but don't like the idea of hunting Lapua brass in the tall summer weeds of south Florida.

I absolutely love my ar-47. Runs like a champ and shoots incredibly well! Go with a mid length gas system for reliability and CPD mags are a must! I went with a Palmetto state armory 18" with a .3095 bore. It shoots cheap steel case wolf easily under moa with perfect ejection at three o'clock and loves .308 dia 125gn tnts over benchmark powder. It has never skipped a beat. Aks arent even fun anymore after shooting the x39 in an ar. Way more accurate and no more trigger slap!

If you're a handloader, a 30 Major feeds well and gives 2,650fps with 125's from Grendel mags. It's a necked up Grendel. Shoots great and packs a punch. Great hog gun!

I don't recommend it at all (7.62x39 in AR15). BTDT, never again.

Stick with .223 Rem. or go .20 Practical if the AR15 rifle is a varmint gun.

My friend and I have been on a AR bender. Just wanted to try something different than a 223. When the Hall barrel is shot out it will be a 30 major, but all my BR friends are gone or not shooting so the Hall will remain a 6PPC for a while. My friend is a restorer of German SS daggers so I mentioned 7.92X33 Kurtz. No go on that he doesn't want to be different enough to pay for the odd ball brass.
