AR-15 6mm Cartridge Suggestions?

I'm looking to build an AR in a 6mm something for varmints that'll work out to 200-300 yards, I have several hundred 70 gr. hp bullets to use and I'd rather shoot them than sell them. I'd like something that uses readily available AR parts and the cases are easy to form with no neck turning. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The cheapest and most transparent would be either a 6x45,223 Rem) or 6x47,222 Rem Mag)using your 70 grain bullets and teamed up with the 58 gr VMAX, this is all you need for 200-300 yds.

If you wanted to get more exotic, a gun based on the 6mmAR cartridge would be sweet as well.

I built an AR in the 22BR, I don't know why you couldn't build a 6BR.All I did was used a 6.8SPC magazine and bolt head, I had to open the bolt head up just a little. I wanted an AR that would shoot with the 22-250 and boy does it ever.
Best of luck and God bless,
Chuck

kend, the 6mmAR is the 6.5 Grendel necked down to a 6mm by Mr. Robert Whitley. He has a system, not just an upper) that he has been selling for I guess well over a year now that is superb in every way. I own one of his uppers and I can honestly say it is top quality, top accuracy, and a very nice upper overall. Mine shoots sub-1/4 MOA at 100 yds. most of the time. The times it don't is probably the driver more than the upper. You can view this product at 6mmAR.com. Robert is top notch also. Very nice guy to deal with and will deliver on time everytime. I have made several purchases from him and all have been a pleasure. Keep up the good work Robert. Bill

+1 to what Billmo said. I shoot one XTC and it is far more accurate than I am. Further more Mr. Whitley is at the top of the food chain for customer support and satifaction. I highly recommend the 6AR system.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd

You don't have to do that anymore! If you decide to go with a BR upper for your AR then go this route:

I have a AR-10 variant from DPMS in .243 Win. that does just what you mentioned. Lots of brass available and if you forget to reload you can get ammo at just about any store that sells ammo.

If you decide to do an AR-15 variant remember the magazine well dimensions limit which cartridge you can use.

I have a 6BR AR that was built by Dtech.www.dtechsuperstore.com Mine has a 1/8 twist for shooting 600 yd. prone. But it does shoot 55gr. Nosler BT's very accurately. The lighter bullets make it a great varmint rifle.
