Approaching deer across open ground

How about hiding behind a large mirror with the sun to your back and when the deers looked at your direction all they would see is a reflection of landscape.

Actually, MClark's description of the much lower tech method that cats have been using for millions of years would be more effective.

That's how the ghost blind works. I use one ground hunting and have killed a few deer within 20 yards behind one.

I've got a buddy (48 years old) who has been hunting all of his life. He's one of these guys who can think like an animal and no matter where he goes, he gets game, even if it's his first time in the area. Like most, he started hunting with a rifle in his youth but changed to the bow which he has done for the last 25 years. He will not hunt from a stand, only stalks, will not take a shot over 35 yards and any shot he takes MUST be a clean shot, no brush or branches to deflect his arrow.

Edited to add: A couple of years ago, he went hunting with his brother (another very good bow hunter) in Wyoming where they spotted some Antelope about 400 yards away. He said because it was prairie land it took them a while, but they were able to get close enough, within 30-35 yards, to take one with the bow.
