Anyone using a 7RSAUM with 168 grain Bergers and slow burning powders? **UPDATED

Shot again this morning. Bright sunshine and 72° and a nice cooling breeze at 6:00. Tested 65.0 to 67.0 grains of Retumbo. Primers are still nice and rounded on the edge and extraction is easy. Low end velocity was 2915 average and upper end was 2980. Accuracy has started to come around by the time I got to 67 grains. I had 2 bullets in 1 hole and pushed the 3rd shot but was under 3/4". Tomorrow morning I may go 67 to 69 and see what that gets me. Hopefully there is a nice node to fall into. I don't have a ton of faith in my chronograph numbers but it is the best info I have available. I think it is time to just do accuracy work then purchase a Magnetospeed and get better velocity data to set my ballistic profile in my G7. Since this will be a hunting rifle I am a little apprehensive about trying to jam my bullets but if I get to a point where I need just a little more accuracy I will play with seating depth and see what happens. I don't have a micrometer seater so my bullets are just off where the riflings leave a mark on a seated bullet.

It has been a while but I finally got my stock back from getting painted, quick sight in then headed out elk hunting. Did not get to try it out long range but it worked well on a yearling at 150 yards. 168 grain moly VLD at 3025fps.20201123_121129.jpg

I don't have the equipment to accurately measure the length off the lands so what I do is to start seating with hard engraving in the bullet and bring the seating stem down until there is no mark on the bullet when chambered. This way I can extract a loaded case when I need to when I am hunting. Wish I had better info for you but just don't have the tools.

I just realized I had another update that I forgot to post. This summer I worked up to find pressure and found it at about 68 grains. I have not had any issues with firing pin hole being oversized like some people havr claimed is an issue with Gunwerks actions. Haven't had any primer flow back around the pin at all. At 67.5, group size shrank noticeably and my velocity was averaging 3025 fps with single digit ES, nice smooth bolt lift and no flattened primers. Keep in mind that I am shooting moly bullets. Hopefully the Retumbo fairy will drop a load of it on the US market so I can resupply soon!!! I loaded up 10 rounds and sighten it in after I got my stock back and went hunting. Over the Thanksgiving holiday I plan to go out, set up my final zero precisely at 200 yards, set my clutch and zero my knobs.
