Anyone used one of McGowen's cut-rifled blanks?

Not quite yet. From their website: " We are in the process of perfecting the age old tradition of cut rifling. We are still a few months out from producing barrels for sale. We are working on cut barrels with the highest degree of accuracy manufactured with 21st Century digital perfection. Stay tuned and learn more soon!"

That's odd. Asked on another forum and one guy said he had one, and they were introduced in 2020 sometime- and I just "built" one on their site and it went all the way to where I could place the order and pay for it.

I'm going to call Dan on Monday to find out.

Well Dad made great Barrels back in St.Ann .
His Premium Hunting Rifle Barrel shot clover leaf groups at 300 yards .
Good Possibility something rubbed off on the Kids ??

I got a 300wm CM 10 twist cut rifled barrel from them in last week. Only took about 7 or 8 weeks.

Haven't shot it yet but to borescopes as good as Bartlien.

I'm pretty sure these McGowen guys aren't the same McGowen guys from the old days. Not saying they don't produce a good barrel, just a different group.
Yes. On their web page they mention that they started by bringing 'McGowen' equipment out of mothballs.

^^
Top menu bar.
"Order Custom"
"Custom Rifle Barrel"
Select Material, Length, Caliber.
After selecting caliber, "Upgrade to cut rifle" appears as a $100 option.

Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, one of the first custom rifles I ever had built (‘70’s) was built by WH Womack in Shreveport Louisiana. It was based on a LaCorona Mauser Action with a McGowen barrel. It was a 30/06 and it shot pretty darned good.

I’m sure the McGowens of that era have long since passed, I had no idea the Company was still around.

I would bet dollars to donuts that their rifling machines will incorporate some fashion of CNC head to induce the twist in the tool.

Have used several of their barrels for customers in several different calibers. All have performed exceptionally well. I’d put them with any other button barrels.
