Anyone use CFE-223 in a Dillon 1050 for .223?

Hey Shooters,
I'm down to one 8# can of H335 that I run through the Dillon 1050 for prairie dog ammo with 40-55 grain bullets.
I'm wondering as supplies get more hard to find, how does CFE-223 meter? I have a 8# jug I bought when the powder first came out and have never used it. I'm sure I'll have to adjust the powder measure, just wondering how it flows.
Thanks,
Scott

Agree with the others. I am finding that CFE223 is growing on me, especially for mass produced prairie dog rounds.

Above average performance in many loads and calibers and meters very well.

I think metering well and good performance are clearly coupled for this powder when I am discussing the difference between very careful load development methods versus what you do when you crank out three thousand of them in a sitting. Clearly some very carefully measured extruded powders will out perform it, but when thrown in a progressive those powders give up some ground where CFE223 does not.

I’m not a good writer, but I think you probably get what I mean in terms of the charge spread of an extruded powder versus the charge spread of CFE223 from a progressive dispenser.

In the case of comparing it to H335, I am an old fan of H335 as well, and think you will also like CFE223 for many of the same reasons. Their burn rates are not close, but they are both still very handy when it comes to volume loading.

I have recently acquired a Dillon 650 and my metering tests with CFE-223 have been fairly consistent. ie dropping charge then weighing on a scale to verify. It does seem to be more consistent after a few drops though. The first few drops seem to vary a bit, and tweaking to get it just right of course. But it does meter well once you have it set and is consistent too.

I use it in my 1050s and 1100s for 223.

I have polished the bowls of all my Dillon measures and charges are really consistent to within 0.1-2 of target. Verified with a FX-120i scale.

I never tried it in an unpolished measure but I would guess it is just as good.
