Anyone try new style Wilson Micrometer seating die

Has anyone tried this yet? Thinking of getting one in dasher. Also curious if it matters what size neck diameter you use?

I'm not sure what you mean by neck size diameter. If you mean can you use a .30BR seater for .30BR, 6mmBR, and .22BR? I wouldn't do it. If you mean, can you use the same seater for .30br for .336, .337, .338, .339 neck diameter, that's the way I do it.

What I meant on neck diameter is some people shoot with a no turn 272 neck diameter and some shoot with a tight neck 266 neck diameter. I assume the die is reamed out to accept a large neck diameter. If you use a tight neck, would there be a lot of play inside of the neck area of the die causing concentricity issues? I don't think it would matter but just want to make sure.

I have a Wilson die cut with the same reamer as my chamber. Then, I have a different top and stem for every barrel/bullet combination.

I initially find the seating depth using Skip Otto shims. i make a dummy round and label it so that I can always get back to that depth. Then, I adjust the top/stem so that the shims aren't needed. Because the dang little things get lost.

YMMV. This works for me.

The Wilson 6 BR is already loose for the no turn neck. Give it a try with your tight neck and measure TIR on a sample of rounds. 30 rounds would give you a true, valid sample. If the TIR is acceptable to you, you have your answer.

I use either Wilson or Newlon Precision dies, depending on whether I want an inline die or a threaded die.

Cut them with your chamber reamer and be done with it.

With the Wilson dies I get a Wilson / Sinclain micrometer top and have at it.....

Provided you are using a, let us say, .30BR seater die for seating your .30 caliber bullets, you should be good to go regardless of your neck chamber diameter. The entire case is fitted to the body of the die.

I have the one that preceded this one. Go for the new technology by Wilson, you won't be disappointed.

Neck size diameter? .001" to .004" under the Outside Diameter of your loaded round. Just insert the appropriate bushing in your Full Length Bushing Die.

I've yet to figure out what you get for that extra $100 over the Wilson stainless micrometer seating die. Someone will have to post some on-target differences before I buy one.

Nothing, I've got a micrometer one collecting dust, went back to the old one. If I need to make an adjustment it's just easier to measure the top with calipers and screw it in or out accordingly.
