Anyone shooting 4895 in there dasher

I went to cabelas today to pick up a few things . I picked up a box of 105 a maxes and box of 107 matchkings . I have been wanting to try these to see how they shot compared to the Berger vld hunting bullets and the vld BT targets bullets . I wanted to pick up a pound of RL-15 but they didn't have any . So I bought a pound of 4895 to try . I've had good luck with Varget and better luck with RL-15 . I loaded up 4 Berger match 4 Amax and 4 matchkings with 31.3 grains of 4895 . My first three shots with the Bergers was in the low .2s and the fourth jumped about a .25 inch. Then I shot two Amaxes in the same hole and the other couple jumped out . Same with the matchkings . I was kinda scratching my head a little . Well I picked up the rifle and headed back to the reload bench . That's when I noticed my front action screw was almost out of the stock . I didn't shoot any more after I tightened it back down but I think there is some promise there . I was getting right around 2900-2930 with the three different bullets . With low Es . Just wondering if anyone else is using this powder besides fire forming thanks

I know of one, very competitive and experienced shooter, who does. Do not know his loads. Strongly but today he most always shoots other rifles in other calibers.

I only did it to fireform.

I'm gonna do a little more testing in the next few weeks . To see how it stacks up against RL-15 and Varget in my rifle .

H4895 is my favorite powder in the Dasher. 31.8-32.1gr with 450 primers gets it done for me.

Good Shooting

Yes 31.8gr sparked by a BR4 and a 105 hybrid was 3010fps in a .236" krieger. Burnt hell out of the throat though. Dont have that much erosion in a 284 shehane shooting 180's!

I don't know about the Dasher using H4895 , but Steve Blair told me that his go to powder for his 6BR was H4895.

"The King" Richard Schatz is very familiar with H4895 in his Dasher. Last time I checked his entry on the equipment list, this was what was listed.

H4895 is all I use in my 3 Dashers. I am shooting 32.4-32.6 in them. Very low ES and SD. Speeds are 3,025 to 3,040 with 105 Hybrids. Freebores vary from .124 to .135. Work up to this charge! Your rifle may show pressure well before this charge.

Thanks for the replies . I have an archery tournament on Saturday and a few things to do around the house. But hopefully I will get out Sunday and try some more loads out .
