Anyone shoot a Savage 12 VLP in .223 with 1-7 twist?

I am looking for a mag fed .223 bolt gun. Plan is to use it for 3-800 yards with 69-82gr bullets. And I am wondering if this is a good out of the box rifle or if I am going to have to dump a ton of money into it to make it a shooter?

I have one 1:9 and one 1:7. Both will shoot 1/2moa or less with load tuning.

Sounds like you have one too many. Want to sell the 1:7 twist?

How does the 1:7 do with 80+ grain bullets? Can you load them long or does it have a short throat?

I have the single shot lrpr in 223 1-7 twist. It shoots less than 1/2 moa with 75gr bullets

That is a sweet gun at a great price. Only thing is I want it mag fed for Varmit hunting/killing.

A friend owns a 7 twist model and it shoots the 90's (berger VLD'S) very well
