Anyone recognize this feller?

Howdy Butch, we're fine, more or less. "Old ain't as much fun as young".. More on my plate than ever, guess that keeps me out of trouble.. Still shooting some but pistols, easier to haul around.

Hope all is well in your world !

Are you still bow hunting hogs on your place? I still have a bunch of pics of your bow kills. Very Impressive!

I worked at the Amarillo Gun Club starting in 1971. Was there until I got out of high school in 1977. I remember Britt and a lot of the other big names would come for our big shoots and the state shoots we had every other year.

A shooting buddy and I were watching him shoot one day and he remarked, "That
guy never shoots an angle target. He smokes em so fast they never have a chance to be angles!"
A good trap reader doesn't have to shoot hard angles, or at least not very many of them.

For those that don't know what "trap reader" means, the Winchester-Western manual traps used by many gun clubs in those days had an "auto-angling" mechanism that could be easily "timed" or "read" by experienced shooters so that they had a pretty good idea where the target would be thrown. Squads of shooters that often shot together would establish a rhythm so that they would all shoot the same slight angle or straight-away target before moving to the next post.

We later added an "Interrupter" device to the those traps to try to discourage trap reading which made the practice more difficult, but was still possible to some degree. I haven't shot any ATA targets in a long time, so don't know if "trap reading" is still prevalent with the automatic traps used by most large gun clubs today.
