I just ordered the book for myself.The diagram on page 508 of 'Bolt Action Rifles' by Frank de Haas (3rd Edition) shows the barrel tenon thread of the BSA/Herters U9 rifles as being 1.115 inch diameter x 12TPI. V thread. The thread form is not stated, but being a British rifle, it is probably Whitworth.

I pulled the barrel tonight and it is 12tpi . My barrel thread diameter measured 1.117 so I'd say a 1.2x12tpi is a safe bet. I have never encountered whitworth threads but these seem to fit a 60 degree thread guage well. But on 55 or 60 degree I'm not positive.
